Barbora Reynaert studied English and P.E. at the Faculty of Education of the University of West Bohemia. After completing her master’s degree, she taught practical English language as well as various other subjects in English at the pre-primary, primary and secondary levels of education in Belgium (Vrije Basissschool Sint-Andreas in Brugge). Her area of professional interest is English methodology, specifically Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL).
In January 2017 Barbora completed a doctoral programme at the Faculty of Arts of the university KU Leuven in Belgium and obtained a PhD in Linguistics. Her research focused on applied language, specifically on CLIL, vocabulary acquisition and learning strategies.
In addition to lecturing at the university, Barbora also works as a teacher trainer and CLIL consultant and has experience with English language oriented projects, such as a coursebook designer, methodology tutor and CLIL trainer for primary and secondary schools in the Czech Republic.
Her methodological research aims at building theories on practical issues arising from everyday school life. She regularly attends courses of linguistics and language education in Belgium and the Netherlands, has presented at national and international conferences and attended meetings of CLIL experts (Austria – European Centre for Modern Languages in Graz, Belgium – KU Leuven and UCL Louvain, Finland – University of Jyväskyla, Italy – Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, the Netherlands – Utrecht University, Slovakia – Faculty of Matej Bel in Banská Bystrica, the UK – International House London). In May 2015 Barbora was a member of a team who received a special prize for developing the best educational mobile App in terms of its pedagogical dimension (Learnathon event organized by IATEFL Hungary and TESOL (USA) in Budapest).
