Andrew Tollet was born in Liverpool, England. His educational background is University of Leeds (BA), Charles University (Mgr) and University of Strathclyde (M.Litt). He settled permanently in Czechoslovakia in 1986 and began his teaching career at the Plzeň State Language School, transferring full-time to the Faculty of Education in 1990. His main academic interests are Cultural Studies, Discourse Analysis and Translation. He has been a member of the Ideas that Work conference committee since its inception in 1997 and has edited three volumes of collected papers from these conferences. He is also the contact person for Erasmus exchanges with Chemnitz, Liepaja, Tartu and Vilnius.
